Postage hikes spark criticism of post office delays
Postmaster-General Bryce Mackasey announced a two stage rise in first class letters to 10 cents on Sept 1 and to 12 cents on March 1 1977, with second and third class rates also under review. Bus Crash Kills 28 on Choir Tour Near San Francisco
A 50 seat chartered bus flipped off a ramp on a bay crossing, killing 28 and injuring many as rescuers cut through wreckage. Among the dead is Kris Huston, 16, a Yuba City High School student. 18 year old Perry Martin survived with minor injuries. Officer Evan Prothero, 50, was at the wheel and in semi critical condition.
