Youth May Give Roy Heavy Title Shot in Regina

Roy, 23, is the Canadian heavyweight hopeful from Montmagny seeking the title against George Chuvalo. The seventh of 13 children trains near Quebec City and weighed 190 pounds, aiming to drop two or three pounds before the June 5 bout. Roy has won 18 of 20 pro fights since November 1964, with seven knockouts, and believes youth and speed give him an edge.

Canucks edge Mexico 1 0 in final series clash

Windsor Ontario CP report says CAHA faces decision on continuing two national teams in Winnipeg and Ottawa. Executive director Gordon Juckes notes costs around 250000 annually and a 100000 grant from the National Fitness Council. Tornados Suffer 6-0 Defeat By Detroit Cougars

The North American Soccer League game in Detroit saw the Tornados routed 6-0 by the Detroit Cougars, who set a league record with penalty-shot goals. Roy Cheetham scored all three penalties, played before 2,182 fans, as Cleveland Stokers beat Boston 4-1 and New York Generals edged Houston 2-1. Manuel Mendonza starred for the Stokers with two late goals, and Hank Louart contributed in the final minutes. Kirby opened the Generals’ scoring, but Tiby Vigh answered for Houston with a late header.
