12 year old swept to death in South Saskatchewan River
A 12 year old city youth drowned Sunday afternoon while fishing near Ross Creek and Strathcona Park after being swept away by the current. Insp. Larry Brink identified the deceased as Darryl Goshulak of 3956 Queen St. S.E. He was with another youth when he stepped into the river. The Alberta College of Physicians and Surgeons considers a daily patient limit as doctors face high workloads and incomes. The council will debate the issue at its June 20 and 21 meeting. A separate report from Orange California notes a woman pregnant with septuplets delivered six live babies, with the seventh dying.

Fireworks blast kills nine in alleged illegal operation
In Youngstown Ohio a blast at an apparently illegal fireworks operation killed nine people. Craters and shed foundations remained as power lines and windows across 1.5 kilometers were damaged. Israel exchanges prisoners in costly Arab swap with protests
Three Israeli POWs returned home after a 26 hour exchange that freed more than 1,100 Arab prisoners. Protests erupted as critics urged freedom for 25 members of a Jewish underground group. The flight ended at Hatzor Air Base near Tel Aviv with 605 sent home, 394 to Geneva, and 151 to Syria.
