Girl’s Skull Fracture After Street Accident
A seven to eight year old girl named Cheryl Hawthorne of Calgary was struck by a car in Calgary. She suffered a fractured skull and fractured left collar bone and was taken to Medicine Hat General Hospital. The driver Gordon Irank aged 23 stated he was proceeding west on 12th Street when the child ran from between parked cars and the vehicle could not be stopped in time. The car did not pass over the girl. The father witnessed the incident and said the car was nearly stopped at impact. No blame was attached to the driver.
