CNR to close shops amid heavy losses

Canadian National Railways will close its three main shops for six to eight weeks this summer and lay off 3 150 shopcraft workers. An extra 700 jobs across Canada will be eliminated by year end, plus 200 administrative roles. Indefinite layoff of 146 shopcraft workers at Moncton Montreal and Winnipeg continues. First quarter loss nears 70 million dollars with no outlook for a clear improvement.

Thatcher says invasion decisions looming for Falkland Islands

New wells planned for Suffield block

Alberta Energy Company Ltd announces a revitalized Suffield drilling program to sink 300 wells by year end on the 2600 sq km military base.
