Shi Pats Scouts After Picture of River Monster

St Patrick's Scouts led by Andy Staysko spend a weekend at Police Point under canvas to photograph the river monster. They aim to recover a knife Mr. Staysko lost a week ago and use a news camera to "run" the ogopage to the water. The freak sighting occurred during the scouts' last outing.

St Theresa Thespians win district drama festival honors

St Theresa College drama group led by Rev Mother Ann won the Knights of Columbus Trophy at the C Y F District Drama Festival held in St Patrick’s parish hall. Antic Spring earned best play while Charles Hoyle and Florence Dawson won best actor and actress. Adjutor Bro Anabert praised the pantomime, with 250 in attendance and a narrow 88 to 85 score margin.

College Sunday at United Churches in Medicine Hat

Principal E J Thompson and staff and students from St Stephen s College Edmonton will preach at several pulpits in the United Church Presbytery of Medicine Hat on Sunday. Eleven graduates will be ordained at the Calgary United Church conference. Canadian Pacific Railway Unifies Code For All Canada

About 820 Medicine Hat division rail workers return to class to study a new national code book covering all railway operations in Canada. Bombs to Make Lakes for Wild Life

U S navy planes will bomb sections of the Rosseau Game Refuge in northern Minnesota on May 24 25 and 26 to create miniature lakes for wildlife. William Morton was notified by Minnesota officials. Sixteen large bombs are planned with location details undisclosed.

Howe says defense firms not short of workers

Defence industries generally are not facing serious manpower shortages. Howe told the national manpower advisory council that overall manpower remains tight and will stay so through year end. The labor department notes a scarcer labor supply in coming months, while reports of production cutbacks due to material shortages are overstated.
