M M Meat Shops charity BBQ raises record 1.8 million

M M Meat Shops across Canada joined on May 13 to raise 1.8 million for the Crohn s and Colitis Foundation of Canada. The 18th annual fundraiser drew customers and volunteers coast to coast as franchisees and donors supported IBD research aiming to cure Crohn s disease and ulcerative colitis. More than 175 000 Canadians are affected by IBD.

Senate backs citizenship path and border fence plan

The Senate endorsed a path to citizenship for millions of illegal immigrants and approved building about 600 kilometres of triple layer fencing along the Mexican border. Four dead in Sullivan mine accident in British Columbia

Kimberley mayor says four people died after hydrogen sulphide exposure at Teck Cominco's Sullivan mine site during reclamation work. RCMP say the first victim may have been dead two days. a rescuer and two paramedics were also overcome. All victims reportedly collapsed during the same incident.
