An official form for entries in Medicine Hat’s July 21 Stampede Street parade was approved. Local businesses will receive the form to enter floats and exhibits, with emphasis on a first class parade as a free summer celebration for residents and visitors. The committee seeks early action to avoid last minute entries.
Enumeration in Medicine Hat shows 9 659 voters listed, up from 7 459 four years earlier, about a 29 percent rise. Redcliff up 26 percent to 898, Brooks to 955, rural centers pending, total in three cities 11 512 versus 8 935 in 1943. If similar gains hold, eligible voters may near 27 000.
In Soviet controlled Berlin and the eastern zone officials reported 4 080 272 no ballots out of 12 024 221 valid votes a notable protest against the Communists plan. The regime pushed a united slate of 2 000 delegates while Western sectors reported 86.4 percent support for anti Communist policies last December.

The wildcat test follows a year of geophysical surveying in Winnifred Whitla with shallow testing across a wide mile. International Drilling Engineering Co conducts the work for Standard of California on Mrs. L Hansen’s farm four miles west and one mile north of Winnifred.
Brooks hosts a major air show on May 24 featuring R.C.A.F. teams from Edmonton and Northwest Air Command plus 25 civilian aircraft. Parachute jumps by Far North Rescue Squad, a S51 helicopter display, a smoke screen by a Mitchell bomber, and a Vampire jet motor ground display are planned. The event opens Brooks community airport with a dance to follow and prizes including a Ford car. Local groups including Brooks Junior Chamber of Commerce, Flying Club, Elks, Legion, Board of Trade and municipal officials organize the event.
City enacts revised by law effective Wednesday charging odd numbered houses to water on odd days and even houses on even days to balance water pressure. Violations incur fines plus meter charges. exemptions for Sundays monthly 31st, vacant lots, parks limits and new homes with permits. Crescent Heights may be excluded by council.
City council endorses a proposal to establish a municipal hospital district with a provisional seven member board. A plebiscite vote by ratepayers is required. construction proceeds only with two thirds approval and a districtwide rate of $1 per day for ward accommodation. Agriculture Minister James G. Gardiner travels via Calgary toward Medicine Hat to discuss the sale terms of Canada Land and Irrigation Co holdings with company officials. He is expected to arrive around supper time and hold a closed meeting with Dave W. Hays and other executives to finalize the contract details.

Ford Motor Company asked the United Automobile Workers to call off the strike in all Rouge plant units except the B building and the Lincoln-Mercury plant. About 65,000 Ford workers walked out two weeks ago with 40,000 more idle indirectly.
