Cape Kennedy AP Two astronauts Lt Col Thomas Stafford and Lt Cmdr Eugene Cernan study a bold Gemini 9 mission aiming for the fastest rendezvous with an Agena rocket and a record long 24 hour space walk in three days of maneuvers. The crew, 35 and 32, arrive eager as weather eyes an east wave near Bermuda with Wasp ready for abort recovery.
British seamen walked out at midnight amid stalled talks with ministers and shipowners. The strike shrank the pound to 2.79 dollars, unsettled the London Stock Market, and idled 2500 ships though the 65 000 member National Union of Seamen vowed a three month walkout. Prime Minister Wilson urged restraint and warned of food panic averted so far by housewives.
