A 12 year old Medicine Hat youth LaVerne Lyons was severely burned on his legs and hands while playing with firecrackers in Central Park. His clothes were burned as explosions set off in his hip pocket and he was hospitalized at 7:85 p.m. Doctors say burns will take about a week to assess.

Medicine Hat Council approves rate boost for water and garbage
The Medicine Hat city council on Wednesday voted to raise domestic water and garbage disposal charges effective July 1.
