U S pilots report multiple aircraft and helicopter losses with several enemy jets downed. casualties rise with 14 Marines killed and 100 wounded by Sunday night. A 15,000 man army force shifts into the area to support Marine operations near the DMZ.
In Ottawa MPs introduced a bill by Stanley Knowles to grant Steven Truscott immediate parole without ruling on guilt. Knowles said parole does not bar a future retrial and the bill would allow Parliament to express its will while preserving avenues for a new trial or other action.
Liberal Leader Mike Maccagno proposed a voluntary metro council for Edmonton and a second for Calgary to address urban sprawl and cross jurisdiction issues. He urged regional bodies with rural and urban representation to oversee planning, water, sewage, pollution, traffic and services as cities expand into surrounding towns and counties.
