Divorce Bills Stall as Commons Debates Move to Committee

New Laundry Project Approved for General Hospital

General Hospital directors approve a new laundry building to be built north of the old plant at about 8000 dollars. The hollow tile, 30 by 40 feet, will house washer, extractor, press, roll irons, a tumbler, boiler and plumbing. M. Fulton to build on cost plus ten percent. Worker Injured At Birnie Yard In Pulley Accident

W Kerlinsky, a Birnie yard employee, was caught in a pulley this morning and sustained two left rib fractures and a head cut. He was hospitalized and treated by Dr. MacCharles.

Contract Awarded To B P Scanlan For Power Plant Addition

At a special City Council meeting tenders for the construction of an addition to the power plant to house a new generating unit were opened and the contract awarded to B P Scanlon. The city engineer was ordered to supervise work per plans by H Davis. Delegates Bullivant Andrews Worster were chosen to attend a regional meeting in Coaldale on Red Trail route plans.

Woman Dies Peacefully While Listening To Favorite Song

Saskatoon report says a woman died yesterday afternoon while a radio station played her requested record. As the song ended and operator Geoff Bartlett prepared a repeat, a phone call notified that she had listened to the music and died happy.

Chicken House Fire Kills 75 Chickens at Dominion Street

A fire at the rear of 1138 Dominion Street destroyed a chicken house, killing about 75 chickens. The blaze began in a brooder and was discovered shortly after 8 a.m. firefighters limited further damage but could not save the birds.

Medicine Hat Scouts Seek Eight Hundred For London Jamboree

The Boy Scout Executive needs eight hundred dollars to send eight representatives from Medicine Hat to the Scout Jamboree in London, England, this July. Tarif Increase Sanctioned by President

Washington May 14 President Hoover announced he would promulgate tariff increases on linseed milk gate Aeines window glass as recommended by the tariff commission. Rates on linseed rise from 40 to 56 cents per bushel milk from 12 to 3 4 cents per gallon cream 20 to 30 cents per gallon and window glass increases from five eighths of a cent to 1 1/2 cents per pound depending on glass size.

Man Killed Removing Storm Windows in Winnipeg

Winnipeg on May 14. Bjarni Magnusson a 67 year old resident was fatally injured while taking off storm windows at his home. A window shattered and cut a main artery. he died after being taken to a hospital.

Graf Zeppelin Prepares for Transatlantic Flight

Final preparations for the Graf Zeppelin departure to the United States were under way in Friedrichshafen with takeoff expected at dawn on Wednesday. The dirigible aims to fly toward Lakehurst New Jersey possibly tracing a path south to the Azores. France has withheld permission for the voyage delaying the scheduled departure.

Bananas From West Indies Reach Western Canada

Seven thousand stems of West Indies bananas passed through Winnipeg over the CN Railway during the weekend bound for Western cities. Canadian Railways Match U S Flour Rate Cut

Airplanes Aided in Fight Against the Bush Fires

Airplanes aided crews in Saskatchewan and Manitoba as fires in Nipawin Prince Albert National Park and Cold Lake areas came under control. A 22 mile front in Prince Albert Park was tamed by 100 workers by Sunday morning, with patrols kept for days. Government planes aided efforts along lakeshores and rivers to halt spread, while Sturgeon River fires were suppressed after a two day battle near the park boundary.
