Ottawa DP Governor General Massey has summoned Dom inion Drama Festival president to explain why he used stationery bearing the vice regal name to promote Calvert Distillers Ltd. The incident sparked opposition questions in the Commons and review by the Ontario liquor board while United Church protests followed.
Brandon area reports two people killed when a truck struck them as they walked home from a dance on No 10 highway seven miles south of Brandon. Victims are Charles McLean 66 and Margaret McLean 44 of Little Souris district. Police say they were walking home from a dance when struck. A separate incident near Hecla Island has Kjartan Egertson 22 of Helen drowned after falling through the ice while fishing on Lake Winnipeg.

Martha Marie Huntley 55 widow of Medicine Hat collapsed and died yesterday at 6th Ave and 5th St near Montgomery Apts. The death is believed to be from natural causes. She leaves five daughters and two sons: Isabel Melnnis and Lila Leslie of Calgary. Dorothy Hobbs of Etzikom. Betty Donaldson and Phyllis Smith. and Donald and Robert of Medicine Hat.

Coroner Dr E G F Skinner will perform an autopsy this afternoon on the body of a Wildhorse woman found dead in Saratoga. The death of a 60 year old Mrs Benny McKay was reported to police at 8 30 am by Joe Cayenne of the Saratoga Park district. He last saw her at 11 pm last night then found her in a room at his home this morning. Benny McKay is a ranch hand at the Ross Ranch at Wildhorse.
Eight winning plays from 13 regional contests will be staged during the Dominion Drama Festival finals in Sherbrooke Quebec. Les Fourberies de Scapin opens the week in French performed by Le Cercle Moliere. Françoise Rosay will adjudicate French and bilingual performances.
In Vancouver 70 officers and crew of the Mazatlan were paid 540,000 in back wages as the 32 year old cruise ship, once Alaska, nears an end after a troubled sale to Japanese interests. Final disposition unclear, but scrap seems likely. prior woes included whisky in the water system and engine trouble amid union picketing and delays.
In Collingwood Ontario a planned bombing nearly killed 27 people in a rooming house. Fire chief John McAllister called it planned murder after a bottle with a fuse attached and a five gallon coal oil can was found in a shed adjoining the building. Mrs. Margaret Lightheart awoke to see flames inches from the detonator and alerted authorities. Police say they know who is responsible.
Weather continues cool and moist with prairies hampered by unsettled air. Clouds cover southern and central regions with possible showers on Sunday and snow flurries in northern areas.
President Eisenhower underwent a two day head to toe examination at Walter Reed hospital and was told the report was excellent. James Hagerty said the exam showed excellent results as the president prepared to leave for Burning Tree to play golf soon after. He entered hospital Thursday night for his annual checkup to assess recovery from the heart attack on September 24.
