Two Albertans Die in Calgary to Border Highway Crash
A head on collision near High River Alberta killed Joseph Murray 27 of Okotoks and later died Earl Balfour 26 also of Okotoks. Henry Kearney Calg ary driver and his wife were in serious condition. Several others including John Kearney 27 Gertrude Kearney Dor othy Duncan Wesley Reid and Alfreda Robertson sustained injuries. The crash occurred on the main highway 40 miles south of Calgary as the Turn er Valley road joins the Calgary border route. Mr. Kearney had left Calgary with his family to test a new car.

Hundreds of addressed envelopes arrive at the local post office for the May 15 first day issue of special royal visit stamps. Shipments come from Canada, the UK, the United States and even China. Collectors seek blocks of each denomination and senders add artistic faces to their envelopes. The stamps come in 1 2 and 3 cent denominations with a green one cent showing the two Princesses, a brown two cent depicting the Memorial Tower in Ottawa, and a red three cent featuring the King and Queen.

Roberts fled through the bush with two bears behind, reached a railway worker's house for help. Men returned, killed one bear and rescued women and children. Libel Suit Against Alberta Premier Headed to Trial Details
In Edmonton Supreme Court chambers Justice A F Ewing said the decision on holding the 15000 libel suit against Premier Aberhart and Provincial Secretary Manning in Calgary or Edmonton and the trial date would be issued this week. Neil D McLean stated thirteen defence witnesses would testify, including Aberhart Manning Mullen Low Maynard Henwood Trowbridge Oliver and others. Witnesses from Strand theatre and the radio station would also be summoned.
