U S Transport Plane Crashes at Clark Air Base

A four engine C-135 of the Military Air Transport Service crashed near the Clark runway in rain, killing 73 of 83 aboard and injuring three in a taxi. The plane had flown from Travis AFB via Hickam Field and Manila's Clark is a shuttle hub for South Vietnam support.

Medicine Hat Census Shows Growth Yet Sparks Disappointment

The city reports 25 271 Hatters this year up from 25 109 in 1963, the smallest rise yet mayor Harry Weiner calls very disappointing. Red Deer gains ground to No 4 while Alberta cities Edmonton Calgary and Lethbridge remain ahead. About 400 names may be missing from lists, and future enumerations will be more thorough. The census was taken by 13 city enumerators April 21 to May 8.

Canadian units to be redeployed in Cyprus Kyrenia Pass

Assassination plot fails in Viet Nam

A Viet Cong operation to kill Defence Secretary McNamara failed after a suspect Nguyen Van Troi leaped from a police window and was injured.
