Conservation urged for national act to boost irrigation

Dr C M McConkey of Ontario Agricultural College urged Canada enact a broad conservation act to develop irrigation in Medicine Hat and other regions. He called for a master plan for natural resources, financing public works, and long term planning beyond 10 to 100 years.

Body recovered of Bronx well-digger buried 26 hours

The body of Dominick Attec, 49, was raised from a 20 foot well shaft in Brooklyn after about 26 hours trapped. He died minutes before arrival of Dr. Harold Berson who said Attec died in a semi stuporous state from burns and blast injuries. His wife Maria, 32, collapsed after an all night vigil at the shaft.

Third Quebec Town In Fire Disaster

A $6,000,000 blaze in Cabano, Quebec left about 1,800 homeless of 3,200 residents with one missing. Authorities say 65 year old Percival Dicky may be dead though unconfirmed. Army and Red Cross refuges housed about 800 as relief trucks from Rivière-du-Loup arrived with meat milk and bread. The fire, the third Quebec town struck in a week, started from a flaming wood chip at Georges Pelleteri’s planing mill.

Rest and nourishment plan for twins Brenda Beverley Townsend

Rest and nourishment, with no further medical tests, formed the program today for six month old twins Brenda and Beverley Townsend who on Sunday will undergo an operation to separate them. The children are named at the abdomen but otherwise developed and healthy.
