Train Derailment Closes Trans-Canada Highway North of Bassano

A semi-trailer truck collided with a CP Rail freight train near Bassano, derailing seven empty cars and overturning two diesel units on the CP sideline. LPG and grain cars were involved. RCMP directed detours while hazardous materials teams and Environment Canada worked at the scene. The truck driver suffered minor injuries. no train crew injured.

Mulroney Faces Protests in Western Canada Over Policy

Prime Minister Brian Mulroney, stopping in North Battleford, faces about 50 protesters outside a hotel with cries against the government and calls to aid the farming sector. Medicine Hat readers may miss the Stanley Cup final games on CBC affiliate CHAT Television. Games 3 4 and 5 will air on Cablevision pay Channel 18 instead. If the series ends early Hatters lose TV coverage and the presentation of the Cup.

Agreement brings Stanley Cup finals to Medicine Hat

Medicine Hat residents will see the entire Stanley Cup finals and related games after an agreement between Cablevision Medicine Hat Ltd and Carling O'Keefe Breweries Ltd.
