Ottawa May 8 Leaders in the House of Commons have not agreed on session length. Authorities say there is desire to cooperate to push business through with dispatch. Some fear obstruction may trigger dissolution if evident. The House looks changed from prior day as crowding eased.
A provincial executive meeting in Edmonton unites to authorize drafting a petition urging the government to ban beer by the glass and confine liquor sales to Government Vendor stores. Attendees include Dr. N. T. Pollitt and Rev. J. W. Churchill with others from Calgary and Edmonton.
Beiru t Syria May 8 Miss Amy Johns British aviator now en route solo to Australia landed last night at Moussimie near here arriving after a long journey as part of a record breaking flight.
Kiwanis group visits twenty four schools within a 25 mile radius for a Clean Up Day and student program. Volunteers from Ashley, Clear Water, Abilene, Wilkinson, Concordia, Antelope, Woolchester, Dunmore, Dauntless, State, Plume and more assisted with equipment and activities.

A gasoline laden tanker Schurchin of Fidelity Petroleum exploded at the Bayonne piers threatening the Gulf Refining Company plant. The blast trapped up to forty workers and left at least two crewmen missing as Shaw's cuts bus lines entering the city.

Four men were killed instantly in an accidental explosion at the Holman open pit iron mine near Taconite. The men, loading drill holes with dynamite, had just placed 12 boxes of explosives when the blast occurred, sending bodies hurled many feet into the air.
In Ottawa today the Parliament budget debate continues after yesterday’s Senate adjournment. The House of Commons granted first and second readings to the Fish Inspection Act and an act respecting National Parks. A resolution increasing the Biological Board of Canada from five to seven members passed.
