London reports show transport and mails moving with food stocks normal in most areas. Volunteer labor in London reaches 100000 as defense efforts fill gaps while Swansea and Portsmouth face delivery delays from truck drivers demanding union permission. Insulin sent to Scotland within an hour of request.
The May 8 crop report covers Manitoba Saskatchewan and Alberta noting favorable conditions and early seeding progress in 1926 with wheat seeded at 75 percent by May 16 and 75 90 percent needed by night of May 8. Subsoil moisture is generally good, rain welcome but not essential, and worm outbreaks unlikely. The report cautions some districts report two inches high wheat and limited reseeding needs.

Miss Daisy Rutledge is the first candidate named by the Monarch Theatre for a popularity contest. Other candidates are being lined up with mills and industries backing entries. Entries must be handed in at the Chamber of Commerce before 10 p.m. Tuesday.
The Soviet press hails a British newspaper strike as a victory. Izvestiia notes one step farther toward Izvestia being produced in London Times offices. Paris Typographical Union bans sale of English type for papers printed in France bound for England due to the strike.
A foundry striker was shot and killed and another wounded in Cicero during a confrontation between striking workers and strike-breakers today. Police and local authorities reported the battle involved bricks and gunfire as tensions rose in the Chicago area.
Debate resumes on budget as Liberal Thomas Donelly urges deeper automobile tariff cuts. Conservatives attack Finance Minister and Western-dominated cabinet, while Liberal Alfred Stork cites provincial gains from Royal Commission policy and opposes Tory strategy.

The program features St Johns Choir chorus solos Mrs Theodore Fossum quartette from The Gondoliers and other Gilbert and Sullivan selections with Mr F Blackburn and Mr J P Marsh among soloists and the Saint-Saens piece Softly Awakes My Heart.
Winnipeg May 8 trading was small and local with prices aligned to Chicago quotes. October wheat led gains closing at 1.34 3 4 while May and July traded at 1.53 1 2 and 1.52 1 8 respectively as shorts covered and exporters stayed out. The market will be closed Monday Arbor Day.
