Deadly Tide Claims Bathers at Ocean Beach
San Diego May 6 two soldiers are known dead and 11 others missing after a fierce tide rip at Ocean Beach twelve miles from the city. Sixty bathers were rescued as lifeguards sailors and policemen battled the surf. Three lifeboats capsized and bathhouses were closed as rescuers worked for hours to save and revive victims.
