Volunteerism in Action receives $39 600 grant

The Medicine Hat Volunteerism In Action Association is among 41 Alberta groups to receive funding from the Wild Rose Foundation. The grant supports creating advertising and maintaining a Virtual Volunteer Centre linking not-for-profits and volunteers in southeastern Alberta. Total grants reach 1.6 million, funded by the Alberta Lottery Fund which disbursed about 47.7 million in 2005-06. Quarterly grants assist non-profits delivering community programs across Alberta.

11th Annual Seniors Resource Fair in Medicine Hat

The 11th Annual Seniors Resource Fair will be at the Weiner Centre on Wednesday June 7. Shantel Giesbrecht, acting seniors outreach officer, highlights services and programs in Medicine Hat and area. Last year nearly 70 exhibitors participated and more are expected. Exhibitors may call 502-8718 to join, with a $25 door prize instead of a registration fee. The fair runs 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is open to the public.
