Defence Minister Kim Campbell announced sweeping revisions to the Canadian Forces harassment policy after a confidential survey found 26.2 percent of female soldiers and 2 percent of men sexually harassed. The plan includes a new reporting and grievance system outside the chain of command and a nationwide monitoring system at National Defence headquarters.
Lorraine Boothman, a Calgary woman, receives 40000 dollars plus interest from the federal government after a Federal Court ruling found her former Energy Department supervisor Tomas Stalinski repeatedly harassed and threatened her. The judge cited repeated threats including violent phrases and actions that led to prolonged nervous distress.
