Dominion Grants to Provinces Face Cuts This Year
Ottawa May 5 A cut in direct relief grants to provinces was indicated in the House of Commons as a $26 million appropriation passed. The Dominion now pays about $2.606 million a month, or $31.275 million yearly, and the new total would not cover the same monthly outlay. The move reflects a 15 percent reduction begun April 1, with a chance for a supplementary vote. Government aims to trim relief rolls by seasonal work declines. Also discussed were relief wages for unemployed men placed on railways. federal funds will cover wages and railways supervise, with 5,000 men per company on CN and CPR projects.

Barry O'Donnell 26 year old patent attendant was hanged at Toronto Jail for the sex murder of Ruth Taylor 20 in Gerard street east ravine last November 4. He dropped through the trap at 1 8 am and went to his death quietly. There was no confession. Airplane planned for far north Catholic mission work
