The South Korean government prohibits karaoke taxis, ruling singing along to recorded music distracts drivers and may cause accidents. The trend, popular in bars and seen in taxis in Japan Taiwan and Seoul, offered passengers singing with an instrumental track for an extra fee in about 100 of Seoul’s 23 000 taxis.
Canadian Armed Forces and RCMP search for American explorer Robert Mantell who left a three man North Pole expedition 14 days ago with 12 days of food. Expedition manager Liane Benoit cites bad weather and hazards as causes for no contact since Mantell, 37, departed from Ward Hunt Island with leaders Richard Weber and Mikhail Malakhov. Mantell planned an eight to ten day trek back to base and was due to arrive Thursday.
