UN troops in south Lebanon put on red alert amid attacks

In Beirut the UN peacekeeping force of about 4 000 soldiers from France Senegal Iran Nepal Sweden and Norway was ordered to return fire and prevent guerrilla incursions after ambushes and mortars killed two French paratroopers a Senegalese soldier and a Palestinian. Some injuries were reported among UN personnel with one British civilian missing in Tyre and Canadian troops stated not to be injured.

Edmonton questions on federal Criminal Code reform debated
