Threat cited as reason to discharge Revinsky jury
After 60 Crown witnesses over three days, the jury in Herman Revinsky's murder trial was discharged when Vancouver police Sergt. James Trice admitted he told Revinsky on February 13 to “tell the truth or we will put a rope on your neck” as a joke. The judge ruled the remark made the signed statement inadmissible. Revinsky reported the threat to his counsel A. H. Friedgut.

Amusement tax to be removed June first
Edmonton May 3 effective June 1 the amusement tax on admission tickets up to 25 cents will be removed. Tickets above 25 cents will retain the tax. The move, announced by Premier Browne, follows petitions for repeal and is expected to benefit children and low income adults at theatres, with only a small revenue loss anticipated.

Tornado toll rises across seven states with heavy losses
Thirty four people died as tornadoes struck seven southern states and parts of the Midwest. Virginia reported sixteen deaths including a teacher and twelve students in a school collapse.
