Medicine Hat authorities consider raising domestic gas rate from 30 to 35 cents per thousand cubic feet with a 10 percent prompt payment discount. mayor plans to oppose any increase. Industrial rate may rise by one cent per MCF across grades due to higher operating costs. Council session planned for next Monday to discuss the move.
In Dalhousie New Brunswick Mr and Mrs George Bernatchez Sr say they hold a record by having 16 grandchildren. Their son Isadere and wife welcomed their eighth child making the senior Bernatchez’s 76th grandchild. The six sons and daughters list include 13 19 13 13 8 and 10 children respectively.
Edmonton oracles note continued warm conditions with late afternoon thunderstorms across the prairies. Expect highs near seventy to eighty, with cooler readings in Calgary and Swift Current and similar patterns in Lethbridge and Saskatoon.
Progressive Conservative leader John Diefenbaker warned that Liberal re election could drive Canada toward a one party state. Washington AP Dave Beck announced the Teamsters union executive board will attend Monday’s AFL-CIO ethics hearing on charges of corrupt domination. Beck and the union face AFL-CIO scrutiny over personal use of union funds and indictments against other officials. Beck is under temporary suspension as an AFL-CIO vice president and council member, with an executive council trial set for May 20.
