Plane crash kills most aboard Iberia Convair 440 near Tangier
A twin engined Iberia plane plunged into the sea minutes before landing off Cane Spartel Tangier. Of 54 aboard 51 were killed. 3 survivors were recovered by a Spanish fishing vessel Virgen de Carmilo. The wreckage lay over 700 feet deep. 36 of the dead were Swedes, 11 Germans, 2 Britons.
