Alberta ICT Institute Formed to Expand Knowledge Economy

The province names leading scientists and entrepreneurs to the board of the new Alberta Information and Communications Technology Institute to guide expansion of ICT as a priority sector. The move supports the ICT strategy under the Alberta Science and Research Authority to build a globally competitive, knowledge based economy.

Centennial Centre for Interdisciplinary Science at U of A

Alberta plans a $285 million three year investment to build a new Centennial Centre for Interdisciplinary Science at the University of Alberta. Kuwait honors Canadian Gulf War veterans with Liberation medal

About 30 Gulf War veterans and families attended a ceremony at the Kuwaiti embassy as Canada was awarded the Liberation of Kuwait medal 150 years after assisting in the 1990-91 conflict. The bronze medal features Kuwait’s coat of arms a dhow and falcon. The ribbon uses black white green and red to symbolize battlefields deeds meadows and blood of enemies.
