Tanker rolls on Box Springs Road near Trans Canada

A diesel tanker carrying 13 000 litres rolled onto its side on Box Springs Road west of Medicine Hat. The driver was briefly trapped and rescued by firefighters, with hazmat crews handling fuel cleanup as Box Springs Road was closed until about 6 p.m.

Alberta progressives urged to unite amid political flux

Gil McGowan, AFL president, told 200 CAPE Alberta delegates in Medicine Hat that progressives must organize now and for the next election. He linked Redford's resignation to ongoing union tensions and warned the Wildrose could form government. AFL plans open talks in late May during the Conservative leadership race and heading into the fall election.

Conservative party scolds MP Anders over misleading nomination calls

The Conservative Party reproached MP Rob Anders for a campaign script that allegedly misled Calgary Signal Hill members by implying calls came from rival Ron Liepert. The National Candidate Selection Committee demanded accurate outreach, after Liepert filed a complaint with Elections Canada.
