North-West Horses For South African Troops
Lord Strathcona and Mount Royal has arranged with the Imperial government to send a war department officer to Canada to buy 1500 to 2000 horses in the North-West for troops in South Africa. The officer will sail from London and arrive in Canada late this month or in April, proceeding from Montreal to the Territories. Some horses used by Strathcona Horse will be sent to Cape Town from Halifax as shipments are made. The war department seeks more horses after the success of the current animals.
