A fast moving stream is crossing the road with large chunks of ice on its surface. Weather calls for sun and shade on Tuesday with temperatures near 50 degrees after a frigid night around 30 below freezing.
Denise Black of the Playgoers of Lethbridge received the Figure of Truth trophy from Lieutenant Governor J. Percy Page as the Alberta Regional Drama Festival ended in Red Deer. Lethbridge company claimed six of nine trophies plus a $100 top play prize, including best director Elizabeth Sterling Hayes and best stage management for the same troupe.

Douglas Barkhouse aged 29 from Calgary drowned after slipping into the Bow River near Earspaw Dam while fishing. RCMP Calgary firemen and skin divers searched until dark and planned to resume the hunt the next day for his body.
U S State Secretary Dean Rusk conferred with Soviet Foreign Minister Andrei Gromyko at a private Geneva villa as East West Berlin tensions persist. Gromyko proposed a vague international watch for land air and water corridors linking West Berlin to West Germany a plan rejected by Rusk due to demands that Allied garrisons pull out and East German control emerge.
Seventeen year old Linda Brix daughter of Mr and Mrs Harding Brix 379th St NE Medicine Hat was named 1962 Teen Queen at the Teen Queen Ball on Saturday night. Gordon Homer a 17 year old Medicine Hat High School grade XII student was named outstanding teen of 1962. Linda plans nursing after high school and holds multiple school offices.
Queen Miss Brix, crowned by last year's runner-up Dianne Butterworth, will represent Medicine Hat at the Alberta teen queen finals in Olds during the Easter holidays. Runners-up were Terrylynne Dunphy and Janet Spivack, with Lynne Jensen and Dianne Billingsley also in the competition.
A transient-housed man, Philip Eckhardt, was found in a self service dryer with a hand protruding. Police were alerted after a caller mistook the scene for a dead body. Eckhardt insisted he was not dead, explaining he crawled into the dryer to find warmth while intoxicated.

In northwest Calgary a Parkdale Service Station was robbed at 12 15 a m. An armed bandit took 50 from Thomas Layton, an employee, who was unhurt. The incident occurred exactly two months after a fatal earlier robbery.
Four hit-and-run incidents were logged by city police since Friday with total damages of 450 dollars. Wilbert Bohner of Ranchville reported damage to his vehicle worth 125 dollars after a Sunday collision at South Railway Street and 7th Avenue SE. Edward Druszcr reported 50 dollars damage to his parked car at the Park Lane Hotel on Friday. Elsie Simmerman said her car, parked at Eaton’s, sustained 25 dollars damage on Saturday. Elmer Hehr reported 100 dollars damage to his vehicle on Full Road Frider. Two city men, William Holt of Medicine Hat and Floyd Patzer of SE, collided on 1st Street NW near Trans-Canada, totaling 200 and 250 dollars respectively with no injuries. Godfrey Keil’s car struck John Hamilton’s on Hill Road, causing 179 dollars damage to Hamilton’s car. Kiel’s vehicle and two cement posts were undamaged.
