French front reports a massive German attack with about a million troops, but signs show the offensive is being checked. Allied forces, with French reserves aiding the British, resist firmly as German reserves are drawn down. British artillery repels a heavy attack near Ervillers.
London dispatch reports renewed German assaults south of the Somme met by relentless British artillery and air attack. British lines withdraw to straighten the front amid heavy German losses and constant bombardment as airmen target concentrations behind the front.
A Berlin dispatch says German tanks reinforced by captured British tanks played a leading role in Sunday west front fighting near St Quentin and Urvillers. The semi official statement claims all participating tanks returned undamaged and their mobility aided rapid breach of British machine gun nests and a concrete redoubt.
A mob in Delphos near Lima Ohio dragged suspected pro German residents from their beds and forced them to salute the American flag under threat of hanging to a tree, in a house to house canvass.

London dispatch reports Lloyd George states that manpower to replace casualties is lacking in France or en route. He indicates replacements for ATT ygums and SAM reinforcements, with Inmon and BMS ready to enter the battle.
