After a lengthy Alberta Legislature sitting the Liquor Control Act amendment moves to third reading. Three amendments were defeated 37 to 14 28 to 19 and 32 to 17 as debates over bottled beer off premises and beer room sales continued.үү
Western Pennsylvania, northern West Virginia, and Ohio face renewed floods as rains swell tributaries of the Ohio river. Pittsburgh reports rising waters and submerged cellars while the national flood toll climbs to 97 with more drownings and recoveries.
Vice Admiral Henry Boyle Townshend Somerville, former Halifax commander and naval officer on convoy service, was killed at his Castletownshend home by four gunmen who fled before an alarm. Police suspect motive tied to his navy recruiting work for Britain.
The Consumers League of Alberta plans a direct appeal to the lieutenant governor and, if needed, a further appeal to courts to oppose the government's proposed industrial codes legislation. They view the codes, set to take effect April 1, as unjust and will pursue legal action to block them.

Alberta Premier Aberhart announced a definite parting with Major Clifford Hugh Douglas founder of Social Credit after a long policy dispute. Douglas was unavailable in London and it was implied he and a reconstruction adviser had left for a week. The government said it will seek the best advice to carry out Social Credit principles.
H L Selby's Over coat won the 81st running of the Lincolnshire handicap in a tight finish by a head. Boethius owned by R B Strassburger finished second and Mistral owned by Sir Charles Hyde placed third. The race opened the flat racing season at Lincoln.

Defence Co-ordination Minister Inskip attended as Britain, France and Belgium clash over a new guarantee. The stalemate risks peace or war for millions depending on future talks with Germany.

Bruno Richard Hauptmann, sentenced to die for the Lindbergh baby kidnap murder, filed a petition for a second pardons hearing. In New York, Mrs Anna Hauptmann's friends fear she may attempt suicide if her husband is executed, while Governor Hoffman had no comment on reports she wrote threatening to harm herself and her son.
London reports that Britain the United States and France signed a second naval treaty in London with exceptions for the Irish Free State. It aims to preserve parity and curb naval competition by limiting sizes of certain ships and guns and launching a holiday from building larger cruisers.
Ottawa reports government relief program details in a bill introduced by Labor Minister Rogers. The plan funds relief costs, creates an employment commission, extends land settlement, enables direct relief deals with provinces, public works, and private partners, and allows loans and private-sector expansion. The act expires March 31, 1937.

Work proceeds on a new Central garage and service station at the Sixth avenue and First street corner. The 122 by 150 foot site will feature a full width Sixth avenue facade, show room, parts department, four portals, and rear gasoline pumps with modern equipment. Red brick with stucco trim will blend into a decorative frontage. completion is set for June as the facility relocates from South Railway street.
