The Medicine Hat council adjourned to discuss loans and rebates, tax embargos, and a proposed pedestrian subway under CPLR tracks, with positions split among Aldermen. Officials also reviewed gravel removal complaints and cement sidewalk projects, while Professor Grimmer’s city engineer offer was considered.
A freight engine backing into McNeitite siding near Creston derailed about fifty feet into a canyon. Fireman Arthur Ford and brakeman Dan Orden Campbell were killed instantly. Engineer Carson survived with multiple leg fractures after being thrown from the cab into a water hole. He had ridden in from Cranbrook by the eastbound passenger train and was hospitalized.

At a Court of Revision meeting on Monday evening appeals against cement walk construction were heard. Robi Nelson and Mrs Nelson saw changes in assessment. John Shields represented Bryant for a walkfront dispute. one lot frontage was corrected from 50 to 42 feet on Fifth Avenue. Several appeals were allowed or adjourned with distinctions on frontage and area.
The Medicine Hat Board of Trade reports Marlatt Clark & Co of Fort Atkinson Wis inquiring about establishing a creamery in the district. The province requires 3000 in cash stock and at least 400 cows producing milk for five months across three years, with government advice on construction and operation after formation and compliance.
Dr R R Stoner promotes Alberta development as six major American manufacturers commit to locate near Red Cliff. Plans include ramps for a new spur, a thousand foot gas well, brick works expansion, and housing for workers. Carpenters and artisans will arrive from Minneapolis in April to support rapid industrial growth.
Entries for Medicine Hat's Spring Stallion Show have already flooded in and directors announce it will be the biggest event of the kind ever held there. Officials expect a large attendance.
Mr T I Rodgers and Dr Stoner visit Medicine Hat to assess a Red Cliff flour mill project and watch overground plans for a 200 barrel per day Minnesota mill being prepared for shipment north. Additional industries including glass, leather goods, cream separators, iron beds and furniture are near final arrangements.
Edward Lynch longtime Nova Scotian and Ashford ranch manager died in General hospital Tuesday night. He hosted ranchers openly, knew Maritime genealogies, and had lived in Brandon before moving west. Survived by four sons and four daughters in Brandon Winnipeg Moncton and area. Remains sent East for burial with a note on Medicine Hat and regional prospects.
The Boyd-Gordon Mining Company of Gow-Ganda ships 35 tons of very high grade ore to the Perth Amboy smelter in New Jersey. The ore is expected to yield about four thousand ounces per ton. The mine currently bags 10 to 12 high grade ore per day and is prepared to operate to the 150 foot level with a full crew. Sufficient provisions and supplies have been sent to last a year.
Last night at the Opera House the Robert Meikle Company delivered a standout show. Miss Badgley drew breathless attention with her numbers and encore requests flooded the hall. Frank Lloyd, a top Canadian humorist, elicited wide laughter, while Miss Malcolm contributed refined piano numbers to a high standard program.
The Board of Trade will host a smoker on Thursday evening March 31 at City Hall. The Sons of England will provide the music, promising a first class program. The City Studio will be open all day on Good Friday for visitors.
Mr Fred Roy of Peterboro writes from Medicine Hat about a bustling western town. He notes gas powered lighting heating and cooking at low costs and mentions rapid development including new municipal buildings and a local land sale and agency setup. He also reports strong American settlement and a YMCA fundraising in Lethbridge.
Rev H. Arndt circulated a subscription list in the past week for Fred Wiederspohn. Donations totaling 29.25 dollars were received from multiple local supporters including The News, Mr. J. Curran, Mrs. Gowen, G. Don ner, W. Cousins, H. A. Manwar ing, and many others.

Avverta Motor Co sells blocks 7 Mein street for 4000 via Pingte.
James Rae has sold power owning outfits to Messrs Bebington Gray Wilson E H Herl and G Schmelzer. This is one of the efforts suggesting farming will be on a large scale.
A church congregational meeting is scheduled with six to the church being asked to attend. The notice specifies a session led by church officers and seeks member participation in upcoming decisions.
