Mass resignations rock Belgrade amid accusations against Foreign Minister Cincar Markovic over a telegram to Russia on a mutual assistance pact. Milan Gavrilovic and Vardar Valley officials quit, Independent Democratic Party instructs members to resign from government posts. Germany protests as Vienna visit delayed and British observers see a chance to block alignment with the Axis.
Royal Air Force fliers attacked the Addis Ababa Jibuti railroad from Addis Ababa to Dire Dawa. They machine gunned three trains and bombed Dire Dawa station with considerable success. Other planes hit Harar and Urso stations as ground forces moved from Jijiga. Cheren in Eritrea was reported pounded.
Montreal president Tony Desmarais reports Western Canada feels at war mainly through training planes while eastern Canada builds vast munitions plants. He cites three priorities for the Junior Chambers: boosting war effort, promoting tourism, and studying the Sirois report.
The House of Commons heard that a committee will study and report within a year on all aspects of expanding storage and irrigation on the St Mary and Milk rivers. A schedule to supply Britain with about 20 000 United States made fighting planes in 18 months was reportedly worked out by top officials. Reports say surveys are under way to establish an aerial route to Britain with pursuit ships and bombers flown in stages from Newfoundland via Greenland Iceland and possibly Ireland.
Historians may note an ambitious gopher hunt by air training school personnel this week in Medicine Hat. W B Dempster offered a reward for the first gopher tail by an Englishman, prompting waves of airmen to search shelters until Corporal S Abrams of Sussex scored a direct hit and claimed the bounty.

Alberta minister W A Fallon announced a post prorogation survey of provincial highways to identify where work is most needed and funds should be spent. The plan accompanies estimates totaling 2,392,000 for ferries and road and bridge work next fiscal year, down about 165,000 from the current year.
Prime Minister Mackenzie King will greet Wendell Willkie in Toronto on Monday and introduce the former U S presidential candidate at the National War Services Fund campaign opening meeting where Willkie will speak. King will depart Ottawa Monday morning for the reception and address.
