Oilfield firm pays city to build safety app in settlement
An Alberta oilfield company, Sonic Oilfield, pled guilty to safety and environmental charges after a condensate release caused an explosion in Medicine Hat. A creative settlement directs 200000 toward a free Safe Waste Internet app, with 12000 to the city and 50000 to the court. The app will educate on waste disposal, spill notification, and emergency contacts across Alberta.
