Man arrested on weapons charge in Medicine Hat

The Medicine Hat Police Service reports a 20 year old man was arrested at a Dunmore Road SE restaurant around 3 a.m. Sunday after a telephone threat to a worker. Police say a knife was found on the man and alcohol was a factor. He is in custody charged with a weapon offense and threats to cause bodily harm.

Break and enter investigated after porch window smashed

Police probe a Sunday daytime break in at a residence in the 800 block of 10 Ave SW. A porch window was smashed and a small amount of cash DVDs and computer games were stolen. Damage is about 100. No suspects yet. information to Service or CrimeStoppers.

Stolen double trailer from Brier Park Road

Police seek public help locating a brown double trailer flat deck stolen from Mcmillan Transport Limited at 1452 Brier Park Road NW between 1 PM March 18 and 9 30 AM March 19. Trailers 774 and 775 bear Mcmillan decals and BPB Westrock drywall. Value estimated at about $60 000. Contact authorities.

Travel Alberta Centre to Extend Hours May 15

The Travel Alberta Contact Centre will be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. seven days a week starting May 15 to offer quicker handling of calls letters and emails. The change follows a new contract awarded to PDL Mobility and Call Centres after an open competition.

Man killed loading rig near Wandering River

A 55-year-old man died after being pinned while loading a rig onto a semi-trailer about 20 kilometres north of Wandering River in northern Alberta. RCMP and Alberta Workplace Health and Safety are investigating Camaro Drilling, owner George Starczik declined comment. The man’s name has not been released.

A SITA report says airlines mishandled about 30 million bags in 2005, with 200,000 never recovered. The problem is worsening on both sides of the Atlantic, and the misdirected bags represent roughly one per cent of the three billion bags processed that year.
