Chretien Says Canada Supports Loonie Despite Slump
Prime Minister Jean Chretien voiced confidence in the Canadian dollar as it hovered around 64 cents US. He said Canada will do all it can to back the weak loonie amid investor nerves and a rush to the U.S. dollar. The loonie closed Tuesday at 63.87 cents US after dipping to 63.75 earlier.
