Death of Inspector Richards recalls Yukon patrol days
The Toronto Globe reports the death in Peterboro Ontario of John Callewall Richards a former inspector of the Royal Northwest Mounted Police and veteran of frontier service. He led the first RNWMP patrol into the Yukon and lived there three years. He died at the Montgomery Hotel Simcoe Street age sixty nine and will be buried at Little Lake Cemetery with Rev. A E Thornley officiating. He was born in Bewdley son of the late Mr and Mrs John Richards and survived by two brothers Stewart and William and two sisters Mrs R W Benson and Mrs John A Hawkins.
