Athletic Park stays in urban renewal plan

Medicine Hat city council ruled Monday night against moving Athletic Park from the urban renewal area to the Medicine Hat College grounds. The decision followed a coordinating committee report led by Mayor Harry Weiner, which said relocating the ballpark would breach urban renewal aims and stop a central city facility cluster. The city has been acquiring land east of the present park to rebuild the field elsewhere.

City considers gas pipeline deal with Medicine Hat

Alderman Grimm outlined a plan for a pipeline to Medicine Hat with an initial gas load of 7 million cubic feet per day and an expansion potential of up to 143 percent. The city may also add 1.8 million cubic feet daily each year, potentially reaching about 24 million in year 20. Initial price is 15 cents per thousand cubic feet, rising 0.25 cents for ten years, then renegotiable. The city would profit on resale, with final terms pending utilities board approval.
