Eden Submits Details of New German Agreement to Commons

Eden announces in the House that Britain France Belgium and Italy will pursue a revised security framework with Germany. Citizens Pro tective Association urges higher wage scale in Medicine Hat

About 200 citizens gathered at the Moose hall to back a resolution asking the city council to raise the unemployed wage from 30 to 40 cents per hour. Speakers including J Allen A Smith A A J Reilly and Aid J Hole with Dr F W Gershaw argued higher pay boosts purchasing power and prevents deterioration, while a committee would finalize details. The meeting stressed democratic methods and tied relief costs to taxation.

IMONTON March 10 C P Attacked by H Van Allen IK C Litoral Edmonton who said the bill has no relation to Social Credit but is pure Fascism the government bill requiring certificates of proficiency for certain tradesmen moved from committee to third reading in the Alberta legislature The minister H C Manning sponsored the measure noting the lieutenant governor in council may extend the act to other trades upon 50 per cent approval of those in the trade The Alberta Gazette will publish such applications Other legislative moves included a failed attempt to bar tax arrears holders from mayoral or council seats and a recall provision passing in committee amid opposition claims the bill is unworkable and ideologically driven but Social Credit leaders pushed it through

Postoffice Robbery Nets $177 In Cash

Robbers unlocked the Torrington post office by a skeleton key and opened the safe with its combination. They escaped with 177 dollars in currency earned in Medicine Hat. The crime occurred during the night and was discovered this afternoon.

Fire crews quell rubbish blaze on Wifth Avenue lot

Smoke and flames damaged a North side lot on Wifth Avenue United last night. Firefighters arrived at 8:65 p.m. and quickly extinguished the small fire with water after locating scattered rubbish.

Mike Rath appeared in M.P. court this morning on charges of operating an automobile without a valid 1936 license. He was fined five dollars with no costs.

George M Bell of Calgary dies at fifty two

Prominent western Canada publisher George M Bell president and managing director of The Albertan Publishers Ltd dies in hospital after brief illness influenza complications. A Calgary resident since 1926 he helped develop Alberta mining and oil fields and led Social Credit publication. Born in Brandon Manitoba he rose from railway mail clerk to business leader. Province Grants 50c a Day Pay To Relief Camps

Edmonton March 20. All men in Alberta relief camps will receive 50 cents a day effective immediately. The 50 cent daily payment replaces 20 cents previously given as an allowance, added to food shelter and clothing. Nine camps housing about 500 men will use the new rate on workdays five days weekly, costing the provincial government nearly $3,500 monthly.

First reading given to a bill to establish a national employment commission to coordinate provinces social agencies and relief efforts. Norman Rogers says the agency would foster cooperation with provinces and Dominion bodies while debates over funding and administrative powers continue.

Fourth Annual Medicine Hat Horse Sale Draws Large Crowd

A big turnout filled the Medicine Hat sale grounds with buyers from the United States and Canada bidding under J W Dunne. Prices looked stronger than last year as about 280 horses were inspected by RCMP Constable Barney Crodkett and additional stock sold privately. The event, though tempered by a hard winter limiting feed, was deemed very successful and promising for the district.

Premier Aberhart Cables Major Douglas on Alberta Visit

Edmonton dispatch reports Premier Aberhart sent another cable to Douglas in the ongoing Alberta Social Credit talks. The premier refused to reveal the message content and remains hopeful Douglas can visit, though March 30, the government date, may be missed.
