Ottawa March 10 by a vote of 67 to 46 the government majority of 21 in the House of Commons early this morning defeated the Conservative amendment to the address in reply to the Speech from the Throne. The amendment was adopted, a record majority noted as the first division of the session. Conservatives, Liberals, Progressives and independents opposed. two Labour members supported the amendment. Bonus cuts for the civil service announced in Commons
In Ottawa on March 8 Premier King announced in the House of Commons that civil servants with no dependents will not receive a bonus this year. Those earning 1200 or less will get a full bonus, earnings from 1200 to 1460 receive two thirds, and those from 1580 to 1800 receive one third. The bonus ends beyond 1800.
