Milne Co to Incorporate as D Milne Company Limited

The Medicine Hat Trading Co announces incorporation as the D Milne Company Limited with capital raised to seventy five thousand dollars. The new charter adds a general department store and cold storage warehouse and includes bonuses for principal employees. Mr D Milne will continue as managing director with Mr R K Graham joining as a member, reflecting a new era for the business.

Monday vote approves $75,000 in bylaw expenditures

Three bylaw measures totaling $75,000 passed on Monday. Water Works $40,000 gained strong support, Gas $25,000 and Market $10,000 also carried with solid margins. Ward by ward results show turnout and a council race in Ward 4 with Hamilton Morrow defeating Robert McCutcheon by 8 to 31 votes. Orange Lodge event set for March 23 with program and refreshments.

Young Men’s Club Opens With Banquet In Medicine Hat

The Young Men’s Club held its formal opening on Thursday with a banquet attended by about 150 citizens. The 24 by 50 foot gymnasium includes a 16 foot ceiling, showers, lockers, and planned lacrosse and baseball clubs. The club also announced classes for men women and boys, a library, lectures starting with tuberculosis by Dr Smyth, and a program of musical numbers and speeches led by President M. A. Brown.

City Council Hears Debenture Offers and Water Requests

The council discusses debenture sales options including a Bank of Montreal proposal and others from Wood Gundy Jarvie and Jarvis. Water connections are debated for hospitals Standpipe and E.S. Martin residence. A special committee is named to review storage facility ownership and a fire engine inquiry is referred to the chief Hatcher.

Alberta Southeastern Telephone Company Annual Meeting

The annual meeting in the city Monday last reported a very satisfactory year for the Alberta Southeastern Telephone Company with plans for further extensions. Negotiations are underway for a branch line to Irvine. 1908 officers elected include Vice-President W. Rutherford and Sec-Trens H. W. Ireland, with directors J. H. Spencer F. L. Crawford C. Calkins John Huston and S. T. Fawcett. Steps are being taken to establish a Masonic Preceptory in the city.

City League formed for Medicine Hat baseball

Fans packed the Ameri can Hotel dining room as organizers announced a four club amateur league named Gaerty Baseball League of Medicine Hat. Clubs entering are C.P.A.R. Fire Brigade City and Bachelors with 10 dollar entry each and rosters limited to twenty per team.

Water main burst floods street after trench leak

A water main burst Monday night between the pump house and the hill behind W A Burton's residence. Water followed the frost lime trench tunneling underground for blocks until it surfaced near Mayor Clousing's corner and flooded the roadway. Crews repaired the break Tuesday but crusted trench fill will take time to settle.

Morrey bought a residence on Ottawa Street from W. C. Harris for 2300 dollars. Patterson sold the R. H. Corbett property in Toronto to the Oddfellows Lodge for 4600 dollars. The lodge gains a central property. Patterson also sold a house on Third Avenue and several lots to Mrs. H C Yuille in the past week.
