Army Captain Convicted of Assault Gets Light Sentence

U S Army captain Shawn Martin was sentenced to 45 days in military prison and a 1000 dollar monthly fine for a year after being convicted on three counts of assault. He will keep his rank and remain in the service. A letter of reprimand will also be issued. The juried panel acquitted him on the other five counts including an alleged attack on a fellow soldier. His attorney asked for a delay in starting the sentence while the record is reviewed for appropriateness of the convictions.
