News from London and Berlin describes Britain debating a Berlin mission after Germany’s conscription move. Prime ministers and foreign secretaries discuss risks and possible joint Western responses amid fears of a broken Versailles framework and new German armaments.
Mr C J Henderson Calgary principal of Garbutt's Business College and manager of the Garbutts hockey team suffered a broken arm after slipping outside the Arena before a game. Dr W C Armstrong treated him and he was hospitalized overnight then sent home. He earned praise for his sportsmanship and influence on the team.
A delegation from the All-Canadian Congress of Labor urged Ottawa to create a national wages and hours board to apply working hours and minimum wage laws to individual industries. They commended unemployment insurance and other measures but warned blanket legislation was impractical and stressed industry-specific application for efficiency.
Agnes Macphail Progressive member for Southeast Grey charged in the House of Commons that penitentiary inspector Dawson used abusive and profane language toward her when speaking to prisoners at Kingston Penitentiary.
Lethbridge reports G Constantin of Nanaimo B C had two and a half years added to his penitentiary term for uttering forged cheques. At Medicine Hat he drew a similar sentence. A C D Pigott of Coalhurst Alta received 30 months while Fred Julian of Vancouver and Patsy Morgan of Calgary were acquitted. Four men were arrested at Moose Jaw after tracing forged cheques through Lethbridge Calgary and Medicine Hat. Montreal is pursuing bail bond racketeers.

A piece of airplane fabric found near Leamington by Scout Cubs suggests cadet Milton A Lamps, 23, United States Army, perished in Lake Erie while en route from Cleveland to Selfridge Field. Lamps left Cleveland last Sunday and was never heard from again after radio-equipped plane vanished.

Montreal March 18 The decision by Chancellor Adolf Hitler to rebuild a German army with compulsory service could force many Germans in Canada to return to Germany for military training. Officials at the German consulate in Montreal say they have no information from Germany yet.
London reports Foreign Secretary Sir John Simon will visit Berlin this week after German assurances to negotiate on the February peace plan. Berlin says Germany ready to discuss armaments with Britain as originally planned. Paris notes a Berlin dispatch claiming a fleet of 400000 tons, which London and Berlin deny.
Hon. James D. McGregor a leading Manitoba farmer stock raiser and former lieutenant governor died at 227 Yale Avenue Winnipeg after a pneumonia illness. His funeral plans included services at Knox Church and a public service in First United Church Brandon with special train for mourners. Survived by daughter Mrs. E. C. Harte and two sons Allan and Kenneth, with son James Hilton having died in 1929. He was a longtime Manitoba club member and Masonic Mason. Born 1860 in Amherstburg, he moved to Portage la Prairie and Brandon and played a major role in stock raising and farming for more than 50 years.

Mrs. E. E. Flack was attacked near her home on Aberdeen Street Saturday night as a man emerged from the opposite direction and grabbed her purse containing $12. She was shoved to the ground and the thief fled west through vacant lots, vanishing in the darkness. Police investigated, with no trace found and a continued inquiry announced.

Montreal officials probe the death of Emile Giroux 25 found suspended from a window latch after his wife Mrs Germaine Giroux 22 entered the police station with head injuries. She said he struck her with a hammer and she escaped by leaping from a second story window into a snowbank. Police found Giroux's body hanging from a clothesline attached to a window latch.
