Winnipeg men charged in $383,000 gold robbery case
Three Winnipeg men are in custody in Vancouver and will be charged with theft in a $383,000 gold bullion robbery that occurred in Winnipeg on March 1. St James police say a detective sergeant and two RCMP officers will escort them back to Winnipeg for provincial court. Eleven of twelve bars recovered in raids. one found downtown and ten in a snowbank near Fort Rouge.

Subsidy Payment Approved for Railways in Ottawa
The government announced a one shot subsidy of 25 million dollars to railways to cover part of a wage increase. Public in Parliament notes supplementary spending estimates for the year ending March 31. The routine annual payment rose to 95 million from 70 million to cover the freight rate freeze from seven years ago.
