Large area opened for discharged soldier settlers

Ottawa announces the Soldier Settlement Board will open 75 000 acres of Hudson Bay reserve lands in Saskatchewan and Alberta and 15 000 acres of Douka hour lands near Kamsack for veteran settlers. Labor War Breaks Out in Chicago

Chicago reports renewed labor violence after the bodies of Joe Hurley and Morrie Enright's lieutenant are found in a South Side bad lands street. Hurley was shot in the back and died instantly, with a blood trail leading to a saloon known as a labor leaders gathering place. Hurley was allied with Sonny Dunn, kin by marriage to Enright, who had recently forfeited bonds and disappeared.

British Steamer Tewkesbury Wrecked Near Cape Pine

The British steamship Tewkesbury, 4245 tons, from Bristol bound for Hamburg, was wrecked last night in St Mary's Bay NF. Her crew of thirty fled to boats and are believed in peril amid steep 299 foot cliffs four miles NW of Cape Pine. The ship had called at Hampton Roads March 9 after leaving Bristol February 9.

Redcliff men fined for illegal possession of still

The notice in Saturday's issue misreported that J. Barsato and A. Podesta were fined for possessing a still and spirits. No spirits were found on the premises, and the paper regrets any annoyance caused by the error.
