74 Jap Vessels Sunk by British Submarines
Royal Navy submarines sank 74 enemy vessels and damaged 25 others in Far Eastern patrols. Destroyed were a small trawler mine layer armed trawler anti submarine trawler and several junks motor craft landing craft and coastal vessels. A British submarine fought a running battle with a Japanese convoy off Sumatra’s northeast coast sinking the trawler and one coaster while the others were driven ashore. Seven Killed in Plane Crash Near San Carlos Calif
A United States Navy release said seven men were killed and 16 injured when a transport plane carrying 23 Navy and Marine personnel crashed near San Carlos California in heavy wind and rain.
