Nearly 100,000 soldiers with ships full of munitions and tanks have been landed at five Greek mainland ports for five divisions. Reports originate from neutral diplomats and British circles in three capitals, with expected official denial in hours. German air units moved to new Bulgarian landing fields.
German bombers struck the Clyde river shipbuilding area from dusk to dawn causing many deaths and injuries. A 40 family tenement collapsed burying residents while rescues worked amid widespread incendiaries. Airman David Smith of the Royal Canadian Air Force died from a stab wound after a confrontation at a military barracks in Halifax. Sanderson, 22, reportedly an Army conscript, was arrested on murder charges following the incident involving Smith and two companions who had been drinking. Officials did not reveal Smith’s hometown.

Rotterdam oil tanks were also bombed on a smaller scale. A large number of bombers participated. only one failed to return.

The act pauses civil proceedings tied to the Debt Adjustment Act for 60 days, with possible further stays if constitutional reference is made.
At the organization meeting in the Mayor's office M H Stone was named chairman of the drive for funds for Canadian War Services. H J Noble was chosen treasurer and James Hallworth secretary with additions to the control committee to be made today and more organization work to start next week.
